Brålands Gård sits in the heart of Bohuslän, right beside the Örekil river, one of the region’s finest salmon rivers. From the farm you can fish for wild Atlantic salmon and sea trout in flowing water, catch mackerel in the fjord, or spend a calm day after perch and pike on a quiet lake.

No experience is needed. If you have never held a fishing rod, we will happily help you get started. If it is your first fishing trip, or you are travelling with children, we recommend starting at the lake or the fjord.

Fjord: sea trout & mackerel

A short drive from the farm brings you to the sea. Rod fishing at sea is free for everyone in Sweden, including our international guests, so no permit is needed. Simple rules protect the fish, so please check them before you go.

Mackerel: June to September, mornings and evenings are best. They hunt in schools, so when they are in, the action is fast and great fun, especially for children. Fish from rocks and jetties, for example at Gårvik.
Sea trout: the classic west coast challenge. Minimum size 45 cm, and the trout rest protected from 1 October to 31 March so they can spawn in peace.
A lovely, easily reached sea trout spot is Skuleviken, about 10 minutes by car from the farm.

The Örekil river (Örekilsälven) is a classic salmon river, and from the farm you can hear it flowing down in the valley. Here you fish for wild Atlantic salmon and sea trout with fly or spin. New to the river? We warmly recommend a guided day, you will learn the beats and the pools and get far more out of your time on the water.

Season: 11 April to 30 September.
Permits are bought per beat and day via Elveguiden, from 200 SEK. Every permit supports the river and its wild fish.
Rules that keep the river alive: fly or spin only, max 1 salmon per day, and all sea trout are released. Always check the latest rules before you fish.
Disinfection station at the farm (by the path down to Fura) protects the river against the salmon parasite Gyrodactylus salaris. Just ask us and we will help.
